Raising our 5th Green School's Flag
5th Green Flag achieved
Congratulations to Ms. Haverty, Jane and the Green School's Committee on achieving our 5th Green Flag.
We have started work on our Biodiversity Flag. Our Green Schools Committee was formed in February 2018.
It is as follows John and Tara (5th/6th) Dylan and Gemma (3rd/4th) James and Conor (1st and 2nd) Rory and Sean (Jun and Sen Inf) We held our first meeting on 12th February. Our parent representation is Barbara who is a member of the Wildlife Trust.
Dale Treadwell visited our school on the 9th March. He spoke to the children in an attempt to improve their understanding of Biodiveristy. He also carried out a habitat study with the children and sowed plants. The children conducted a survey among staff and pupils to find out the level of knowledge in the school on Biodiversity.

May 8th Trip to Emo Court
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class visited Emo Court on May 8th 2018. We visited the Emo Court House and then Edel done a habitat survey of the parkland and the children observed and recorded native plants and animals there.
When we returned from Emo Court each pupil done an essay on it and we put them up on our notice board
19th October 2018
The children from Junior Infants to 6th class went to Emo Court on Friday 19th October 2018. They had a guided tour of the grounds. The weather was beautiful and the children really enjoyed it. They wrote an account of their visit on returning to school.
